The BEAR Rover uses various systems that require a central processing unit. This unit is developed as an on-board computer system, which is also used in SEAR.
The basis is a fundamental design, which is used for individual designs of the different subsystems. This design includes all the basic elements for the functionality of the microcontroller and is very efficient in terms of energy consumption and space.
The first version of a simple central on-board computer contains a variety of interfaces including USART, SPI, I2C, CAN and Ethernet. This board is used to collect various data of sensors and controls the EPS. The finished layout is located in the review.
Furthermore, the central on-board computer will be built redundantly and a separate locomotion design is developed to control the motors via motion controllers.
